How SidingWise Works
Where our cost figures come from
Every cost range on the site is a 2026 planning estimate compiled from published manufacturer and industry pricing, cross-checked across multiple sources (current as of August 2026). They are not quotes — actual prices depend on your home, region, trim, access, and installer. We keep the figures in one central dataset so the calculator, comparison matrix, and every material page always show the same numbers, and we refresh them on a schedule so they don't silently go stale.
How the tools work
- Siding selector — a transparent, rules-based score across climate, budget, maintenance, length of stay, look, and fire requirements. It shows its reasoning and what it ruled out; it's not a black box.
- Cost calculator — applies material, area, stories, tear-off, and a regional multiplier to the central cost ranges to produce a planning estimate.
- Quote-fairness checker — compares a quote to the typical installed range for that material and region. It contextualizes a price; it never judges a contractor or tells you to accept or decline a bid.
- Comparison matrix & warranty checker — read directly from the same central data and published warranty terms.
Our guardrails
- We never say a material or fix will work without an on-site inspection.
- Costs are always ranges, always labelled planning estimates, never quotes.
- We contextualize prices; we don't call any contractor's bid a “ripoff.”
- We name when a material is the wrong choice — the thing a seller can't.
